Safety Assessment and Risk Management Package

The Redwood Shelter’s Safety Assessment and Risk Management Package was co-authored by There Consulting’s Co-CEO, Beth Jordan and Dr. Deborah Sinclair. From that work Beth Jordan created Her Toolkit which included the Comprehensive Safety Assessment Tool, the Emergency Escape Plan, the Fast Form and the Personalized Risk Management Plan, all of which are part of the Shelter’s Safety Assessment and Risk Management Toolkit (SARM). This organizational policy implementation work required a shift in thinking and action, which was supported by the development of training materials and sessions to engage the staff who would be working directly with survivors.

We soon discovered a lifelong trusted source for guidance and expertise, appreciating how the consulting services wholeheartedly immerse themselves into your organization to gain an intimate insight into your vision. As Executive Director, I appreciate that they truly understand the violence against women sector, with an ability to develop effective solutions for challenging and complex issues. For instance, a decade ago, they devised a Safety Assessment and Risk Management framework for The Redwood, since proven to be a sector-leading approach to mitigate survivors’ exposure to harm. They always go above and beyond our expectations in meeting our organizational goals to grow sustainably and elevate our mission impact, whether developing a Strategic Plan or, more recently, an Organizational Review.

As a Black-owned and women-led consulting firm, their keen insight and wisdom allow them to identify and analyze complexities, such as examining the triple threat of gender- based violence, anti-Black racism and COVID-19 facing Black communities for our collaborative project with Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic. Their team is passionate about bringing about effective social change with their values-driven resolve.

Now more than ever, their expansive thinking proves extraordinarily valuable as both disruptions and opportunities abound during this time of rapid change.
